For goodness sake someone please BUY my freakin' motorcycle! It's clean! It rules! It's fun! And most of all it's cheap! Make me an offer! There are like four bikes I have my eye on...but I need to sell this one first! Dear god, hurry up! I want that Ducati 900 SS R!

Who am I kidding...it's got to go on EBay I guess...

I saw Planet of the Apes. It was OK, and that's it. It seems like Tim Burton, or who ever was in charge, was forced to make it an "american movie". Meaning crappy modern quotes ('Can't we all just get along') and silly, forced plot twists. If it was taken seriously, it could have been amazing, The apes looked rad, but having them smoke weed and make silly faces, and do things like play soccer in cute jerseys for laughs was stupid. I could go on...but you'll see it anyway, I'm going to see it again tomorrow.

I bought some new CDs today. The new Good Clean Fun album makes fun of Saves The Day in a song called 'I Dreamt An Emo Kid Liked Me'. Interestingly enough I bought the new Saves The Day at the same time. Emo and hardcore can co-exhist...really.

(I'm sure someone noticed my screwed up dates...I fixed em')

The SF SKATEPARK site is finally looking like a website. I just added a story about the Crocker Amazon Park opening. Personally, I wasn't too impressed. The Mayor didn't attend, the demo wasn't really a demo, and the park itself is lame as hell for the $500,000 cost. Still, the kids were stoked, and it's better than nothing. I guess you have to crawl before you can run...or something like that. Just wait for the Pier 24 park..

I'm fucking going home.
After spending about 20+ hours non-stop cutting out tiny jackets and snowboards in Photoshop, then giving them cute little drop shadows has slowly driven me insane. My left hand hurts from clicking and dragging so damn much it's hard to make a fist.

I'll be at it again tomorrow...can't wait.

ll Monday. July 23. 2001. 4:26pm

Correction: ECHO has not gone totally under, they will still operate the website and plan on keeping it live. They just laid off everyone...
The big question: does the 20 something CEO keeps his Jaguar convertible? We can only hope.

9:06am

ECHO, where I worked pre-threatmedia* has gone under. I wanted to wait until it was official to post...it seems they went down Friday. Another dot com swallowed up and spit out. If you know of any work out there let my friend Bob know...bummer.

ll Sunday. July 21. 2001. 4:26pm

I'm been adding stuff to sfskatepark.com quite often. There is a new mission statement as well as some fresh news, including a link to a SF Chronicle story, and some photos. More soon.

Vans skatepark is still pretty fun. I had my first full session since the stitches were taken out last Thursday. Thanks to Hanley for being the only one to skate. His frontside pivots are dope.

How can the so called leaders at the G8 Conference not see that the people need to be heard?
It should have been George W. Bush...

I received a great new book today, Free Agents - A History of Washington DC Graffiti.
It's amazing. The jacket was designed by a guy I went to Art School with, David Dawson, who is now the Art Director at While You Were Sleeping magazine. David is also known as KIER in the graf world, and there's a great section about him in the book. Also featured are SOPE, FELON, and many others including hardcore staple CAST (aka Martin) and legend COOL DISCO DAN. It's great to see pieces I recognized from back in the day. I did a little writing during my school years in DC, but wasn't too great at it...lord knows I tried, and painted as much as I could. I'm still looking to see if any of my tags made it in the book. The book is a must buy if you know DC at all, or were into the scene. JEEVES ONE.

I'm going to add my top 50 albums (and 7" records) here soon. I'm debating whether or not to do it like a feature, one a day with album artwork, or just post the damn list. I'll figure it out.

I saw Final Fantasy yesterday. Not bad, although it seemed to be other movie plots pushed together and made digital (Aliens, Akira, Judge Dread...). I also saw State and Main, and Tao of Steve on DVD. Both were pretty good, but nothing really great. I enjoyed Rebecca Pidgeon in State and Main, who played a character simliar to her character in her last David Mamet film, The Spanish Prisioner. Tao of Steve...sort of funny, but frustrating as well. Maybe I wasn't in a movie watching mood...

ll Friday. July 13. 2001. 10:36am

While watching the awesome KISS documentry on VH1 last night I saw the commerical for Hysteria - The Def Leppard Story. It stars Anthony Michael Hall as Mutt Lange, the band's legendary producer. In real life Mutt is married to Shania Twain. Maybe Molly Ringwald will play her...

I added the July archive.

Click my ID band above to experience my entire ER trip in Seattle and the 8 stitches...
*WARNING* - this is some really graphic stuff...be warned.

Last night I saw Pretty Girls Make Graves at Slims. Amazing band. They weren't as crazy on stage as I've heard, but I guess that's because no one really knew them, a less then energetic crowd. They were super good though...I agree with Tom who predicts them as the next big thing.

ll Wednesday. July 11. 2001. 12:03pm

Photos from my trip to Seattle, minus the my trip to the ER...I'm working on that.

ll Tuesday. July 10. 2001. 10:00am

Back from Seattle...it was overall a great trip with one serious bummer. I'll have a photo gallery up as soon as I have the time.

Highlights

- visiting Tom, Mike, and Jason
- seeing Tom's new house
- Cradle of Filth and Nile live. Unreal. One of the best shows ever...more details later.
- visiting Bruce Lee's grave
- amazing vegan breakfasts every morning, good food all around
- listening to old hardcore records while playing Tony Hawk 2
- good skateparks but...

Lowlight

- spending most of Saturday in the ER after slicing my arm open at the Rain City Skatepark. Eight stitches and much pain...

During the ER trip Mike and Tom took a variety of photos documenting the ordeal...I'll post them as soon as I can. Some are not for the weak of heart. Send me an email if you want a preview. Let me also mention I began my health coverage on Tuesday...thank goodness.

ll Thursday. July 5. 2001. 4:49pm

I'm off to Seattle tomorrow morning until next Tuesday. I plan to hang out with my friends Tom and Mike, skate, and catch the Nile - Cradle of Filth show. Should be really fun. I feel a bit burnt and need a recharge. No updates from the road...sorry.

9:20am

I saw A.I. yesterday. It was far better than I expected. The movie was really three parts: introduction of David to the home, David in the world, and David in the far future. I enjoyed the first part the most as it really tackled the artifical life problems and challenges. Visually it was quite stunning, but as I had read, the ending was a bit long winded and comfortable. Meaning, it was wrapped up too nicely. It was a good film overall, that kid can act.

I also watched the Snatch DVD. The second disc was a bit of a let down, but I'm a huge fan of Guy Ritchie and the film itself. I know some people think it's too similar to Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, but I enjoyed Snatch more.

Kato scares the crap out of me daily.
Yesterday, during her usually park play, she went a little overboard. While playing with two much larger dogs, she decided to take off and have them chase her across the sand area of the dog run. At top running speed she got caught up in the legs of the other dogs and took the craziest tumble I've ever seen. She flipped end over end, and then rolled for about 10 yards easy. She just jumped up and wanted more. Jess and I ran over to find a dime size area of fur missing between her eyes, and a series of bloody cuts around her right eye. Walking her home felt like returning from battle. She actually whined when we left the park, as she was ready for more play. She played this morning, and we expect a speedy recovery. Crazy dog.

I had to come in here to do a few things and thought I'd warm up for July. Expect more photos and crap like that.

Watched Cast Away last night one DVD. Pretty good film. It makes you think, if nothing else. What would you do in the same situation? Could you make fire? Etc. The 2nd DVD was quite extensive, and the menus were well designed. I want DVD work! It would be so damn fun. Hopefully soon.

We had a yard sale Saturday morning and made $176.00. Not bad. Some guy actually tried to steal a $1.00 ring! Unreal. It was a street wide yard sale, so I went to the various sales and told them about the guy. He heard me talking to one sale owner, and ran. Five minutes later he came back to our sale and slipped the ring back onto Jess' jewelery table. My Mom warmed me that people steal at yard sales and I didn't believe her. The human race boggles my mind.
