I've been living in San Francisco for exactly a year. I've been in the Bay area for 5 years.
My friend Tom bought a house in Seattle on December 1st of 2000...and at 11:55am today a 6.2 (I also heard 7.0) magnitude earthquake hit the Seattle region.
Never thought I'd feel safer in SF.
I sent my taxes away today. The work involved with doing taxes is really annoying. Because I worked at three different jobs last year and had so many freelance projects, I just paid an accountant to do it. A few years back I was billed over a grand from the IRS becuase I filed out something wrong with a freelance job...never again. I get money back this year for the first time ever.

The forcequit site is new (and has been for some time) and it's damn cool. Check out the ETC. section and read the FQ Top Tens. They have good taste and a great sense of humor.
Tuesday. Feb 27, 2001 - 12:37pm
I've just added a photo gallery of the Juice -Blur The Line art show to the threatmedia* site. Launch it from the NEWS section of the home page.
I've also added a few new CD's and Movies to the left of the page. Selling old CD's is fun...like shopping with no money.
Sunday. Feb 25, 2001 - 2:20pm
Traffic is the best movie I've seen in a long time. The "Drug War" never looked so transparent.
Saturday. Feb 24, 2001 - 1:04pm
OK, I admit it, I check the Episode II daily news now.
It's a struggle. Yes, I spent the night on the sidewalk for Episode I tickets, and yes, I saw it seven times in the theater...only to ultimately dislike George Lucas and his total disregard for the fans that made Stars Wars so important. Damn. But at the same time I do love Star Wars (and Boba Fett) and hope that this new film is the Empire Strikes Back I so badly want.
And it also seems that Episode I will be released on DVD afterall. Various sources say it will hit stores June 2001. Damn George, couldn't you have done that last year...I already own the video, you money hungry ego-maniac.
Friday. Feb 23, 2001 - 10:11pm
Just got back after snowboarding at Sugarbowl.
The
morning was amazing. Sunny, blue bird skies, and enough powder to find some
really good lines. By the afternoon the clouds rolled in, but it was still
super fun. Thanks to Tom for the snowboard,
and Tony for the bindings...one
of the best set ups I've ever had the pleasure of riding.

Well, the Grammys sucked.
The worst part by far was Michael Green's little speech to try to justify putting Eminem center stage. "Listen, music has always been the voice of rebellion...We can't edit out the art that makes us uncomfortable. That's what our parents tried to do to Elvis, the Stones and the Beatles." What? Are you saying that being homophobic and violent toward women is somehow rebellious? And comparing Eminem to the Beatles? They called for love in a time of war, not hate toward others for shock value."It takes tolerance to teach tolerance." I agree with this...but I can't tolerate Eminem...he is just a terrible artist and not someone people should take seriously. And to all the black artists supporting him...what if he bashed blacks instead of gays and women? You would change your tune real quick.
You want rebellious hip-hop? Try Public Enemy, old Run DMC, or Blackalicious. Hate is not rebellious, or even original. It's been done.
Oh yeah, my parents went to High School with Donald Fagen from Steely Dan. They say he was a bit of a nerd. Radiohead should have won without a doubt.

wasn't even there...(this link dedicated to John

For the past few days I've been watching parts of Blind Video Days, the skate video done by Spike Jonz in 1991. It's amazing how this video is still groundbreaking after 10 years. Jason Lee's part is amazing...but the Gonz is just...he's doing tricks here that most pro's now still can't do. His style is so amazing as well. Go to Crail Tap and download the lost footage. It's worth it.
Side note: World Industries has almost all the footage from one of my other favorite videos, Rubbish Heap. It's all in Quicktime format. This video was also done by Spike Jonz.
Tuesday. Feb 20, 2001 - 9:04am
I wasn't in the mood to mention it yesterday, but at around 3pm...in broad daylight, with dozens of other cars around, and in the pouring rain...someone broke into my Jeep while it was parked in my driveway in front of my house by smashing in the passenger window. All that was stolen were two pairs of sunglasses. The stereo was untouched. My guess is that is was some crack-head looking for money. Great. He didn't get any cash, and it cost me $170.00.
Monday. Feb 19, 2001 - 6:38pm
My
good friend Bob just launched redshifter.
Not too shabby...bookmark and vist often. I guess I have to make a links list
that stays up...

It's
a damn shame.
Last week two more friends of mine lost their jobs in the dot com industry.
First, Gene over at iGeneration was
given his walking papers...then Dave was let go over at PhotoAlley.
Both these companies are still in operation, they are just "trimming
the fat". I hired both these guys at HardCloud, so this makes job two
they've lost in the world wide web workplace.

You just can't beat the simple humor of seeing someone get kicked in the crotch. Jackass delivers. As Homer Simpson said so well, " It works on so many levels."
Big Brother, the magazine that started it all, has a new website.
Friday. Feb 16, 2001 - 10:09pm
I'm guessing this board goes for at least $1000.00 on EBay.
Thurs. Feb 15, 2001 - 6:39am
Check out Bryce's photos from Old School Skate Jam 2001. I wish I was there to meet Glen E. Freidman, Vallely, and Tony Hawk... I'll be there next year for sure. Insane.

"Hello,
ReadyHosting...my email is broken."
"Yes, we know..."
"Well I run Eudora on Mac...what's the solution?"
"We don't support Mac."
"What?! Are you serious?"
"I'll check....nope, no one knows Mac here."
"Fuck you."
If anyone knows of a REAL web host that has a good track record, email me...maybe I'll get it.
Tuesday. Feb 13, 2001 - 12:21am
Normally I really don't like Jack Saturn's site, but it seems that Pyra and Blogger (the company that he worked for and was very closely involved in) went down for good last week. Scroll down the page to his Feb 1st entry. It's a good piece explaining his feelings about going under and the team he worked with. I can relate.
Monday. Feb 12, 2001 - 10:32pm
The
Promising Ring? Damn, I'm dumb. Spelling corrected.
Hey, it was a busy morning.
Monday. Feb 12, 2001 - 8:38am
The Promise Ring put on a great show last night...sometimes I feel to old for shows, but it was a OK crowd last night.
Just don't talk loudly the whole show...I didn't buy a ticket to hear you flirt with some dumb girl.
Sunday. Feb 11, 2001 - 2:17pm
After
spending the morning at the skatepark, avoiding Rollerbladers who 1. Sit or
stand ON the coping of the ramps and rails 2. Drop-in or cross the park without
EVER looking 3. Do stupid flip tricks ONTO the deck of ramps, hucking themselves
without looking, or caring if they hit someone...it sure feels good to play
Blade & Die.
Friday. Feb 9, 2001 - 9:50am
Unreal.
The Christian Metal (is that even possible?) 80's band STRYPER
are back together and playing a huge Jesus
fest with P.O.D., MxPx, and dozens of other young Christ loving rockers.
If you're gay or pro-choice, don't bother, you're not invited.
What a great message for today's youth.
Thurs. Feb 8, 2001 - 9:33am
Need a Valentine? I think she's rad...but I'm taken.
Weds. Feb 7, 2001 - 6:40pm
Interesting
day.
First, I bought every Simpsons figure (12) and most of the playsets at Jeffery's Toys on 4th and Market. I walked out with as much as I could carry and $259.00 less cash in my pocket. Most of these toys were for the guys at forcequit. I'm not THAT lame. The Milhouse could be better...Nelson looks good.
also...don't lock your keys in your car by Pac Bell Park. It's pretty far to a BART station.
Weds. Feb 7, 2001 - 8:37am
Last night I got the new Propagandhi album, Today's Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes (a quote from Mumia Abu-Jamal). It's been over four years since their last album, and it's been worth the wait. Every once in a while I forget how important politics should be to punk rock. These guys refuel my fire everytime.
and I finally bought that Kid A album...and I'm not yet convinced.
Tues. Feb. 6, 2001 - 1:32pm
OK, this is my first posting to this thing. Hopefully I can post to this much easier, and more often than the neckdeep.com site. I have wanted to do this for a while...so here goes. Oh, yeah...if I spell something wrong...be kind, I suck at spelling. The little lists to the left will update from time to time, so watch them.
This
site launches at the same time as threatmedia.com.
This is the media company I have started with two other guys...BK and Tony.
For all the info go to the site and check it out...please let me know if you
find any errors. Yes, we tested it, but we only had so much time and so few
machines. We just got back from the Action Sports Retail show where we met
with various companies and got amazing feedback. More on that as I have the
time.
So that's it so far...come back soon....and send me an email.
