In case you missed even one day... ll
Thursday.
June 27. 2001. 8:49m Yesterday I finally got my hands on the Razorblade Romance CD by HIM. I basically heard about HIM through Bam Margera's various interviews, and seeing them mentioned on the internet here and there. Their stuff isn't easily available in the US as they are from Finland. It's a pretty darn good album, but takes getting used to. Sort of a Alice in Chains meets Depeche Mode, with Dani Filth singing. It grew on me pretty quick. The 'heartagram' logo is very cool and extemely clever.

June 26. 2001. 5:06pm In keeping with no idea of no redesigns, I've come up with a new concept. I will be changing out the random images above, with the design based on a specific topic. This time, it's 80's Comedy Movie quotes. I tried to cover all my favorites...but if you think one is missing, let me know. Most are short, to work with the design...enjoy.

June 26. 2001. 9:43am Of course the first photos are of my dog...what did you expect?

June 25. 2001. 10:03am I went snowboarding
Saturday. -- My digital camera came in the mail today. Photos soon. -- New HECKLER homepage. The site is still a mess. Our job was to just redesign the homepage and give it a fresh face...the rest is up to them...

June 21. 2001. 9:08am Yesterday I was added to There's Something About June, a very cool project featuring designers born in the month of June. Thanks to Peter Sung for adding my name and link. It's a cool idea, and I'm in great company. Check it out. In other news HECKLER is approaching it's 50th issue. I have been asked to list my top 50 albums of all time for the issue. That is not going to be easy. Just 50? I get to write in depth about number 1, but I have no idea what my top album of all time is. This is going to take some time. In other HECKLER related news, the new homepage I designed for HECKLER.com should launch very soon. (note the lack of link, as the previous homepage, and website is a disgrace) --- One more thing...the new iGeneration splash page I designed is up. Thanks to Robert.

June 20. 2001. 3:43pm I finally bought a digital camera yesterday. It may not be the best out there, but I got a great deal, and I'm stoked. Photo Alley (aka Hanley) hooked me up. Should be here anyday now. I also ordered a CD from Djangos and was impressed with their selection and super quick shipping. They sell used stuff super cheap, and I found an import I had back ordered on Amazon for weeks. It's great site to browse, and is very extensive.

Tuesday. June 19. 2001. 9:49am It's been a while, but we have now updated the threatmedia* site with a shot from the Tony Hawk tour. It's amazing that Rob Wells (aka Robert Earl) just rides around in that tour bus and gets paid. What a freak. More later...

Monday. June 18. 2001. 9:08am My seven dollars was part of the $48.2 million Tomb Raider scored this weekend. It was without a doubt one of the worst movies I've ever seen. As Sam and I both pointed out...it was as bad as Angelina Jolie is beautiful. 90 minutes of my life...gone forever. A new Jackass last night...really funny. Fat Fucks 2 was my favorite. The use of 'The Fat Boys Are Back' by the legendary Fat Boys was the icing on the cake.
ll
Friday. June 15. 2001. 10:00am For the 1% of you who enjoy real metal...Cradle of Filth and Nile will be touring the US this summer. It's going to be insane. I'll be at both the July 10th SF show as well as the July 8th Seattle show. I'm going to have to go with friends up there as no one here will dare attend with me. The rest of you can catch this kick ass show. Get hyped.

Tuesday. June 12. 2001. 5:15pm I stumbled
across this amazing mini-documentary
on the online design community. It's worth a watch. It makes me get excited
about design, and some future developments that could happen shortly... To add my two cents...I generally dislike most things on the web these days. To me, fresh content is king. There aren't many sites that provide worth while daily updates and prompt a second visit. That's why I turn to web logs, and surfstation (which has a fairly weak redesign this week, and has been lacking lately big time). I want personality and emotion, and thought behind design. The web can be so immediate, yet it tends to move so damn slowly. Anyway, back to work...or go home, walk the dog, back to work.

Monday. June 11. 2001. 9:13am "By executing the first federal death row prisoner in nearly four decades, the USA has allowed vengeance to triumph over justice and distanced itself yet further from the aspirations of the international community,'' the London-based human rights group Amnesty International said." I couldn't agree more. Seeing the media circus on the TODAY show was sickening. What year is this?

Friday. June 8. 2001. 9:29am Finally after many months, HECKLER is sending me CDs to review again. My guess is that they are going to be out of business in a month or two...but until then, I'l keep reviewing. I got a few CDs yesterday...the only decent one is the new one by ZAO. They are sort of a metalcore meets black metal deal. It's important to note they are hard core christians. Normally I would avoid that type of band like poison, but these guys are damn good. The CD came without a lyric sheet, so who knows if they are praising Jebus or not...but it's pretty amazing music. If you enjoy that sort of thing. In other news I'm so busy I feel like I'm slowing drowning. Not a good feeling... ll
Wednesday. June 6. 2001. 2:52pm After spending around two hours at the DMV (and that's WITH an appoinment) I am now a fully lincensed motorcyle driver. Before I was coasting on permit statis.I'm going to keep the bike for now...or if someone still wants to buy it, that's cool too. I'll just get one of these. If you haven't bought the new Radiohead...do it now.
ll
Tuesday. June 5. 2001. 12:33pm Nuh Uh...I do not.
ll
Monday. June 4. 2001. 12:04pm My redesign for SF Skatepark Coalition is up. The pages are empty as can be, but that should change fairly soon. Go there to learn about meetings, park sposorship, and so forth. I had a very nice birthday...but someone still needs to get me these. Thanks to Sue for the watch, Jess for the Simpsons toys and dinner, and my parents and brother for the books.
ll
Friday. June 1. 2001. 5:05pm No redesign...sorry. That happened a few weeks back. As I've mentioned I'll be adding photos up top from time to time. - Southwest Airlines sucks. What's worse than having to be 2 hours early to grab a plastic boarding pass? Having the flight attendants sing and make jokes over the intercom. I feel like standing up and punching them. - The new Radiohead gets better and better each listen...song two is my current fav. - Tomorrow is my birthday. I'm old...
ll
Wednesday. May 30. 2001. 10:05am First off, check the new threatmedia* homepage. Yup, it's Weeman from Mtv's Jackass posing for for the threat* cameras. Weeman rules. I added an outake to the images above... In other news... I was lucky enough to see the Tony Hawk Gigantic Skatepark Tour yesterday at the Grand Prix skatepark in Sacramento. Thanks to BK, I was able to get a MEDIA pass and stand on the decks of the ramps to check the action. Highlights include: - Mike Vallely getting pumped from the crowd, and landing a 50-50 from the top of the wall and dropping back in. - Rob Wells signing autographs while talking to me...what a kook. Yes, he worked at a dot com...fusion to be exact. - Bam Margera getting hurt on his first trick, then breaking out the cop shades and signing girls shirts for the rest of the day. - Steve Berra kickflipping to flat off a six foot box. - Shaun White pulling a frontside 540 barrel roll into a McTwist on the vert ramp...at the the age of 14. He also had an insane doubles run with Tony Hawk. - Matt Hoffman crack his wrist doing a Flare (backflip full twist) on the vert ramp, by slamming into the flat bottom. Unreal. - Tony Hawk (who I had never seen skate in person) ollie 540 the channel of the ramp. Blunt- to tail-to revert on the mini! You had to see it. Don't forget the 720. Sick. I left stunned and with a case of heat stroke...it was insane.
ll
Tuesday. May 29. 2001. 10:23am
We are blessed with a new issue of Buddyhead...not
bad.
ll
Monday. May 28. 2001. 10:28am I'm in the office trying to finish up some stuff in order to get out of here to enjoy a really nice day here in San Francisco. It may or may not happen. I'm listening to the new Burnt By The Sun EP. Pretty good metal meets hardcore stuff...sort of a Dillinger Escape Plan meets Napalm Death. Four really short songs...I guess it was worth $6.98.
ll
Thursday. May 24. 2001. 8:44am Due to last night's season finale I may have to stop watching Ed altogether. The stupid DA, Bonnie, showing up at the door in the last 30 seconds! Awful, just awful. I called that she would show up, but in such a stupid "cliff hanger" way? Stupid. If he doesn't slam the door in her face in the first minute of the season opener next year, I'm done watching. Although, I was stunned at the large "VH-1 Jackass" subplot. It was damn funny and more proof that those guys are talking over Hollywood.
ll
Wednesday. May 23. 2001. 4:54pm After going on craigslist and TicketBastard I've decided that I can't afford to see Radiohead. For two shitty lawn tickets it's 93.00. For actual seats, we're talking 250.00 plus. Screw that. I suppose I'll go to the Vagrant Across America tour...it's only like 11 bucks. There are so many movies I've been waiting for on DVD. Big Trouble In Little China is not one of them. Someone actaully calls this movie "a real treasure" in their Amazon reivew. What? Sure, I enjoyed it on HBO in the forth grade, but a treasure? I'm stoked for O Brother, Snatch, and the Black Adder box set! I've worn out my old videos of Black Adder...it's about time.
ll
Tuesday. May 22. 2001. 5:21pm Thanks to Frank, I've aquired the new Radiohead album, Amnesiac. It's pretty darn good. The best review I've seen, as well as a track listing can be seen here at CMJ. The last song Life In A Glass House is my current favorite...but that's only after three listens.
ll
Tuesday. May 22. 2001. 10:06am If I was rich...I'd get this handpainted Chris Miller , this older Gonz, another killer Gonz, and this rare Matt Hensley. Damn Ebay...

Monday. May 21. 2001. 4:10pm
I basically decided to can the whole "redesign each month" bullshit.
It was too much work and quite frankly, these next two months I'm way
too busy. I've been working on a simple design that works well and is
easy to update. Here it is. This will free me up to post more often, which
is what this is all about anyway. I'll change out the top photos quite
a bit, and redesign when I have the time. If you hate this or are having
problems, send me an email. Thanks.
here's my E3 post...in case you missed it...
ll
Monday. May 21. 2001. 9:22am - The XBOX is insane. The games look awesome including Amped, a snowboard game where you do tricks to get photo coverage in order to get magazine fame and Bruce Lee, a game where you are the man...in adventures in 70's Hong Kong and San Francisco. Street date for the XBOX is Nov. 8 and costs a whopping $299.99. They didn't have the actual product at the show...the games were running off modified PCs. I also didn't care for the controller. Still, the games looked insane. - Skateboarding is big business in gaming. The Activision booth had a good size vert ramp, and had Salba, Shaun White, and Ryan Sheckler skating on Saturday. Ryan Sheckler, 12 years old, pulled a kickflip indy. Shaun White, 17, pulled a McTwist. Unreal. I missed Tony Hawk on Friday, but it was rumored he couldn't walk into the hall without a total mob scene. Tony Hawk 3 was pretty good...Bam is the new skater. Also, there were four other skate games that show promise. - The Japanese were issued super small digital video cameras at the door. Or it seemed that way. They all had them and were filming everything...and everyone. - I was lucky enough to get a sneak preview of the new Infogrames Transworld Sports games...Skateboarding, Snowboarding, and Surfing for the XBOX. The surf game was amazing. Possibly the best game graphics I have ever seen in my life. If it plays as well as it looks, it will blow minds. - Booth girls are funny. Holding swords, or dressed as sexy cops...they were everywhere. - I was surprised how great the Nintendo Game Cube looked. I don't like the game selection, but the perfect cube design with 5" CD discs was visually stunning. The Game Boy Advance was also pretty damn cool. - I spotted more people that looked like 'Comic Book Guy' from the Simpsons than one could ever imagine. Go outside! Get some sun! Stop playing the demo of Metal Gear Solid 2 and get a damn life. That is all.
