It's rare to stumble across music that really impresses me, but two bands in one morning?

About one minute into the first Arsis tune...I'm sold. Super melodic metal in the vein of At The Gates and Carcass...but really, you need to hear them. I was waiting for the great metal album of the year, and I think I've found it. You can download three full songs from their full length, A Celebration Of Guilt, here.

Also on the Willowtip label is Capharnaumn, an amazing technical metal band...think Dillinger Escape Plan meets Black Dahlia Murder. A quicker more metal / less hardcore Darkest Hour? You can download a few of their songs on the same Willowtip home page. Great stuff.

I ordered both albums...20 bucks post paid.

Krispy Kreme to Make Low-Carb Doughnuts

Is everyone fucking insane? What about NOT EATING DONUTS? Krispy Kreme has been losing money, but are people really stupid enough to eat anything labeled 'low-carb'? Low carb Coke. Kit - Kats. Pizza. Just cut out the junk food all together you jackasses. Man, do peple really think they are eating 'healthy' versions of Coke and chocolate candy?

As David Cross said,"Do we live in a nation of six year olds? Answer, yes."

I've been busy lately and I haven't been too motivated to update. Just feeling a bit burnt...I'm sure it will pass.

This Newsweek article entitled, The Roots of Torture is a must read. It talks about how most images from the Abu Ghraib prision contained known torture techniques that were taught by higher officers, and talks about Bush signing secret orders granting new powers to the CIA as well as reinterpreting the Geneva Conventions to allow tougher method of interrogation at Guantanamo. All three pages are quite shocking.

It saddens me that this is the government that represents the US to the world. We should be outraged.

If you enjoy Oasis, Blur, Pulp, or Massive Attack...then check out the documentary, Live Forever. It's worth a viewing just to see Noel rant about Blur and drugs and Liam just mumble about how great his hair is. It's a great snapshot of mid-ninties brit pop.

Metal? This is pretty funny. And the new Decide album, Scars of the Crucifix, is certainly very evil.

At the moment I'm in Miami Beach. I suppose if you enjoy endless beach front hotels, over tanned rich people, and a 'always Spring Break' atmosphere, this place is for you. Not me. Awful. I'm just sitting here in the hotel room waiting for this damn event to be over, and wishing I was back home to witness the contest at Wallenberg this afternoon.

Yesterday I was in NYC, and I'm pretty much sick of that place as well. Maybe it's because I've been there three times in the past month. It's a great city, I just never have the time to enjoy it.

Someone sent me an email and tipped me off to the NYC Tattoo Convention that was happening Friday and Saturday and I checked it out yesterday. I've been to a few conventions (San Francisco, 'Tattoo The World', Baltimore) and they are always disappointing. I was excited to see some Japanese hand work, but I was too early. It was something to do anyway...

Now I have the difficult task of trying to find some food in this town. I'm not feeling too optimistic.

To those of you coming over from the news link posted at Skateboarding Sucks...welcome. For the record, I also had no idea what their criptic posting meant.

How they explained it to me: They first made a reference agreeing with my Mc Tony Hawk bashing below, but then defended him a little bit ("Tony's pretty fucking good on a curb too.") The "Weasel" thing...that's what the poster thought was written as my page title (?). Lostsheep (The Duke boys CB handle) was in reference to my Dukes of Hazzard posting on the left there. Make sense? Yeah, well...I tried.

I'm listening to quite a few good things right now...the new full length Maritime, Glass Floor, the new Sparta , Porcelain, and last but not least the new David Cross album, It's Not Funny. And it IS damn, damn funny. I was not let down.

Mike Seaver wants to save you from hell. "Please don't let your loved ones go to hell without trying to rescue them!" Where's his old pal Boner Stabone? With a name like that...he's going to burn for sure.

I'm off to New York City again tomorrow morning...if anyone has any leads on anything interesting happening Saturday, let me know. I have no time to do the research.

Super Size Me! is a great, smart film. Yeah, with me Morgan Spurlock was preaching to the converted, but the facts are still stunning. The school lunch footage was revealing (and completely awful), and the whole experiment had me glued to the screen. If you go happen to eat Fast Food...man, I feel sorry for you. In any case, this is a top notch documentary.

At the very least, I wish I could get Tony Hawk to watch this film and admit he's wrong. He should be fucking ashamed of himself for pushing this shit to kids.

I'm still taking in the new Morrissey record, but I'm liking it based on the first listens. Especially the first track,'America Is Not The World'. Can beat lines like "America, you know where you can shove your hamburger" and "And you wonder why they say...hey you, fat pig". Awesome.

We're back from our week long trip up to Portland.

Man, that is a damn fun town. In fact, San Francisco could learn a few things. First of all, MORE VEGAN EATS. From the vegan thai food, chinese food, vegan soft serve ice cream, and the amazing Food Fight! grocery...Portland takes the vegan crown. Second, ARCADES. Man, between Wunderland Nickel Arcade and the fucking fantastic Ground Control, video games are covered. Ground Control even has a 720† machine in flawless condition. Working joy stick and all. I'm seriously thinking of trying to open a vintage arcade in SF...we need one.
