Last night Frontline aired
a fantastic hour entitled, The
Jesus Factor."Examining George W. Bush's personal religious
journey, it's impact on his political career and presidency, and
the growing influence of America's Evangelical Christians."
Even if you support George W, it's worth checking this out. It's
VERY obvious that Bush bases all his political choices on evangelical
beliefs and teaching. Any one of any other faith (or non beliver)
should be vary concerned about the impact this is having on our
government. The website has the entire
program to view starting May 1st, in
depth interviews and detailed overviews
of Bush's faith. PLEASE take a second and educate yourself.
I think you'll find it very troubling, or at the very least an eye
opener.

One week with my new 20gig iPod.
I have to say, I really liked the interface of my second generation
model much better. The wheel and touch buttons are too damn sensitive.
I also liked the fact that you could connect with any fire wire
cable. Yeah, it's a tad thinner with this new cable and 'dock'...big
deal. The new iTunes upgrade seems to be pretty good...nothing special
or anything.

Ga damn it...Morrissey is playing at fucking Lollapalooza
here in Northern California. Tickets go on sale in a matter
of minutes. Lollapalooza? What the hell is he thinking? I can't
think of a show I would want to attend LESS. Schedule some solo
dates you dumb ass. Man, I should have traveled to LA. Jerk.
--
Well, that's it until the end of next week. I've off to Portland
for a vacation. we're going to drive up through the Redwoods and
up the Portland coast. Dune Buggies, skateparks, and good food.
Looking forward to it.

At the last minute last Friday I was asked to go BACK to NYC for
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week. So after a weekend
of laying tile in Fresno, I got on a plane early Monday morning
and went back to set up yet another event.
Man, I'm tired. Nothing exciting happened in NYC. Nothing.

So, check out the design of this
site.
From the 'webmaster':
"I just want to let you know I love love love your design for
your front page so much that I decide to adopt it as my
own... I have to be honest with you. I copied everything. I was
running out of ideas and I needed to put out something real
fast."
I'm not sure what I'm going to say when I write him back. It's a
pretty poor copy, but it's still a copy. He did add ,"I will
change once I got some fresh ideas."
Yeah, those fresh ideas can be hard to come by.

Back from NYC last night at 11pm. Two nights of very little sleep...and
not by choice.
4/20 : 9:15am : Walking to the Bowery to set up a show I was working
on, I pass Supreme
skateshop. About 3 dozen Asian males are lined up and/or in sleeping
bags outside the shop. I'm informed they are waiting (some for a
few days) to buy some limited Nike
Dunks. Um, that's a bit much.
4/20 : 8:29pm : I'm leaving the small uni-sex bathroom at the
event I'm attending. As I open the door, Patti
LaBelle walks toward me. PLaB: "You all done in there chiiild?"
Me:"Umm, yeah, it's all yours" PLaB: "Alright you
don't want me all peeing up on stage..." PLaB's 'handler':
"Miss Patti is in the restroom...Repeat, in the restroom".
4/21 : 12:35pm : Leaving Yaffa
Cafe and walking up St. Marks Place, I hear some noise and turn
around, not paying attenion to where I'm walking. I brush shoulders
with someone and spin around. I lock eyes for about 2 seconds with
Ice T. From my quick look I believe
he was with his
new wife, a porn star.
What the fuck Ice? Where's Darlene?
My iPod crashed on the plane on the way to NYC and it won't even
mount, giving me the 'dead iPod' icon. Great. So it lasted me less
than two years (bought it on Friday August 16, 2002). I have to
get another one though...I'm hooked damn it, I'm hooked.

How the hell did the Youth

website that every song appears in the film. I guess it doesn't
surprise me that Ray Cappo and Porcell are down with tales of meeting

shows will sell out quicker when this sucker hits the mainstream.
Great, thanks guys.

SKATEDAILY.net posted a
story yesterday about an art show that mentioned refreshments provided
by Pabst Blue Ribbon. This was sent in. Although I didn't feel it
was appropriate to post at SD.net...I think it's worth a read.
Hey, noticed that PBR has been getting pretty popular these days,
and that you mentioned it in today's post about the Deluxe art show.
I just wanted to point out that here in Milwaukee, Pabst is a dirty
word. In '96, they shut down operations and took their employee's
pensions and medical insurance away -- $40 million in pensions alone,
plus insurance coverage throughout their retirement. They screwed
4,000 people. Everybody in Milwaukee knows somebody who lost their
life savings because of PBR. At the time, every bar in Milwaukee
had demonstrations where they dumped out their barrels of Pabst
in the gutters and smashed their cases in the streets. So next time
you consider ordering a PBR, The Beer That Made San Antonio Famous
(not!), don't do it.

Adam Yauch producing a new Bad Brains album? He
says so. Can't imagine how that's going to sound in 2004.
Oh, and in case anyone thinks I believe the girl in the Black Dalhia
Murder T-Shirt was a poser...or I was somehow implying girls CAN'T
listen to death / black type metal...untrue. I just found it hard
to believe that girl was into it. I wish my wife listened to metal.
Female + metal = totally cool indeed. Angela
listens to metal. I hope that girl is standing right next to me

throwing the horns. She just didn't look the type.

Heard some good metal last night at The
Pound.
Curl
Up And Die want to be Converge.
Badly. Their singer even had some of the same stage antics and mannerisms.
but that's pretty much all they were...a poor copy. And they talked
about baseball between songs. Great.
Darkest Hour shuffled
around the stage checking mics, and tuning their guitars. The drummer
(looking a LOT like Beau Beau from Avail) carefully set up each
drum abnd slowly stretched. The singer walked out. Ready? As the
first few chords of Sadist Nation errupted it was like they were
shot out of a cannon. Unreal. Their older stuff wasn't as amazing,
but everyting off 'Hidden Hands' was gold. Well worth multiple viewings.
Amazing.
- Military style canvas hats worn sideways are the new mesh hat.
Oh, and bandanas wore around the neck like a cowboy seems to be
'in' as well. Great.
- Does that girl in the Black
Dahlia Murder girlie T really listen to them? I mean, more than
just seeing them live with her friends once and them thinking they
had a cool shirt? And did she even like that show? Does she have
the album?
- I've been going to hardcore shows for just shy of 15 years, and
never have I 'mosh pitted'. Yeah, early in my career I pleed guilty
to 'finger pointing', 'piling up in the front of the stage', 'sing-a-long',
and even (on rare occasions early on) 'stage diving'. But never
have I entered the 'pit'. It's fucking stupid, and stupid looking.
The muscle headed tards were in rare form last night.

Man, I'm a terrible skateboarder.
You would think that after 15+ years I would get better. Yeah, right.
I skated Sunnyvale
this morning before work (something I hope to keep doing) and just
flat out stunk. I love skating, I just get so frustrated some days.
I couldn't even push properly this morning. Two to three weeks off
the board and I feel like I'm learning to ollie again. Sad really.
That being said, it's still better than work...and I just have to
get more time on my board.
