USA Today loves Shaun Palmer. They gave him a cover in 1998 proclaiming "Is this man the world's greatest athlete?"..and now they are the first to cover his "comeback".

It's an interesting read. A few frends and I saw 'Palm Daddy' playing roadie to a horrible South Lake bar band a few years ago. We were speechless. His video game had tanked (the stats in the article are false) and the guy was done. I like this line in the story,"Palmer Snowboards, a company that remains one of the most successful brands in the sport." Really? What a load of shit. If by successful you mean king of the close outs.

Back in 1988 I thought he was the shit, but that my mistake. If he makes it to the Olympics, I'll be stunned. Most likely he'll just fade away. He's foolish if he thinks he can keep up with riding today. Put on your clown suit, crawl back into the bottle and take some more pills like your hero Sid Vicious. No one cares.

- Although there are more than a few design mistakes, the new Walnut Creek skatepark is pretty solid. The bowl is damn fun, and the street course is passable if it isn't crowded with rollerbladers and scooter kids. Worth a visit.

- Sarah Silverman: Jesus Is Magic is a pretty funny film. The stand-up parts were great, but I could have done without all the poorly done stetch comedy. There were also songs stuck in there that were out of place. Still, when she hits the mark her jokes come off as genius. The biggest question I had leaving the theater is why the hell is she dating Jimmy Kimmel.

- Oh, and all you meat eaters in hybrid cars, you are part of the problem...want to REALLY conserve oil? Go vegan.

- So much work and nothing to show for it. Ugh.

- Cheney can go to hell

After butchering their website, Independent Trucks has gone a step further and canned their team manager of thirteen years, Joey Tershay. Horrible, horrible move.

The Indy site was a great project and I felt honored to design a site for one of the most respected skate brands out there. I remember watching this Gonz video, created for the site by BK, and being so proud and stoked. It was about history and the love of skateboarding...not marketing to the new kids. Now I question whether to ride their trucks at all. I'm peeling their stickers off my board.

This morning I took delivery of a new Honda GB500 TT. Well, new to me...and only one owner before I bought her. Much, much better shape than my previous one. Photos soonish.

- Farmer's new inner lip tattoo, name the Smiths reference. It took me a while. Farmer skating NYC...and representing the stencil.

- Tony Trujillo's favorite band is now Mayhem? Really? He's an AMAZING skater, but the guy has 'Motley Crue' tattooed across his back. Mayhem just seem to be the most evil, maybe that's the draw.

- These tiny Star Wars 'gifmations' are pretty clever. There's Empire and Star Wars. I'd recommend these over the piece of shit that is Episode III...now available on DVD.

- Perfect weather. Perfect.

Bill O'Reilly hates San Francisco.

"You know, if I'm the president of the United States, I walk right into Union Square, I set up my little presidential podium and I say, 'Listen, citizens of San Francisco, if you vote against military recruiting, you're not going to get another nickel in federal funds,' " O'Reilly said Tuesday on his radio show as San Franciscans were approving the two measures

"Fine. You want to be your own country? Go right ahead," O'Reilly went on. "And if al Qaeda comes in here and blows you up, we're not going to do anything about it. We're going to say, look, every other place in America is off limits to you except San Francisco. You want to blow up the Coit Tower? Go ahead."

Awesome, just awesome. I've never been happier to live in San Francisco. Just knowing Bill O'Reilly hates me that much is great. And this is the 'No Spin Zone'?.

Oh, here are a few more things just to piss Bill off further...I love the French, I support gay marriage (amd all queer rights) 110%, I support any and all animal rights groups including direct action, intelligent design is for morons, patriotism is for fools, the war in Iraq is WRONG. Oh, and Al Franken is smarter than you. Jackass.

We love Chad Miller. Listen to Mr. Miller discuss his shop, the Shac7, and other random crap on Vegan Freak Radio. We can say we knew him when.

We're back from the east.

The Todas / Buckalew (aka 'Todalew') wedding went off. It was great to see everyone and spend some time in nice clothes, enjoy the magic of the chocolate fountain and 'November Rain' some wedding cake. All in lovely Rockville Maryland.

Not much time spent in DC, but enough to know that things have changed. Downtown Georgetown is all about high end shopping, there ain't a Burrito Brothers to be found, and Dupont Circle just isn't the same. Still Vegetate is pretty good, so go check that out. Missed Food For Thought.

Back in SF, not much is happening. It's starting to rain and for some reason I'm considering getting another GB500TT. I miss riding a bike around the city, I came across one in GREAT shape, and I regret ever selling my old one. We'll see...

Later this week I'll be traveling back east for a friend's wedding. I'm looking forward to visiting Washington DC in the fall. It's always been my favorite time of year there. I'm also looking forward to eating at Food For Thought again. Yeah, it's a new location...but I'll take what I can get. Maybe I'll pick up a 7" at Smash and go completely back in time.

- SFGate.com is running of a series of articles entitled 'Lethal Beauty' focusing on Golden Gate Bridge suicides. Three of the seven have been posted and they are highly moving, well written stories. I'd heard a bit about the debate to put up a jump barrier on the Golden Gate, but after reading these stories...it seems to make complete sense. A sad but very important read. You can get more information about the proposed barrier here. I certainly support their cause.
