Mods vs Rockers 2009.

Well, that was one intense ride. Close to 120 bikes left the Thirsty Bear parking lot (after close to 80, included myself, left the SF Motorcycle Club) and headed across the city. Through Union Square and over to the Stockton Tunnel where we met up with 100 scooter riders. Then over 200 bikes and scooters flew through North Beach and down into Pacific Heights. Every stop sign and red light was ignored. It was beautiful. Then down to the beach, through the Height and into the Castro and back to the Mission. You haven't lived until you've seen a motorcycle cut off and slow down a Muni bus with a whistle to blow an intersection.

Good stuff and no one was hurt.

Vegas, etc.

- Back from a family wedding in Las Vegas. I understand the draw to the place as it's just a Disneyland for adults. A packaged experience with booze. Want some nature? Well, we've got sad caged tigers and animal acts. Want fine art? Well, the Bellagio is all classy and shit. Interested in theater? Cirque du Soleil is totally like broadway, but with clowns and sexy people flying in the air. Did I mention the drinking? And the naked chicks?

- And all that being said, do I still want to see The Hangover? Hell, yes I do.

- I mention brands and / or stores I'll never support on the left. One that I've supported since I was 12, Vans. These are looking good, as do these. I really only need one shoe brand at this point in my life.

Tweeterings.

Yes, I'm all up on the Twitter. But rather than post a bunch of horseshit like what I plan on having for lunch...I've decided to just post a link to a favorite album everyday. Or even more frequently, who knows.

So far it's been Agent Orange, Living In Darkness and Eric B and Rakim, Follow The Leader. And let me say, these are NOT posted by me, they are uploads I've found. Hey, it is the internet.

Lots.

- I've been enjoying my commute with a few new music choices. The new Wolves In the Throne Room entitled Black Cascade could be their best yet. More thrash and power. Plus if, like me, you were disappointed with the new Mastodon check out the latest self titled from Absu. Crazy, black, fantasy metal. Brutal and crazy. In terms of brit-pop I'm really enjoying The Courteeners latest, St. Jude. Just so good. I'm guessing they'll hit here in the states soon.

- As always the new Mac ads are really solid. I'm looking forward to picking up John Hodgemen's book, More Information Than You Require, after hearing about it on The Sound Of Young America. The man is funny.

- If you are looking at this on Saturday before 9pm, check out the LIVE webcast of the Vans Pro-Tec Pool Party. Judged by SKATEDAILY.net partner and good friend Bryce and announced by our pal Shrewgy

Dom Deluise, RIP.

A tip of the 'fat guy hat' to Mr. Deluise. From his work in Mel Brook's films (Blazing Saddles: "Not in the face!") to Cannonball's Captain Choas...he'll be missed. An interesting interview from 2006 here.

Your Scene Sucks.

More than a few years ago I linked to the artwork of one Rob Dobi and his fantastic 'How To Dress Emo' page. Well, Dobi has upped the ante with 'Your Scene Sucks' which profiles 20 different typical scenesters.

Favorites? They are all good but Hot Topicore, Black Metal Knight (although I've never seen one in 'the wild') and Orgcore Punker top my list. In fact, I think there are close to five thousand 'Orgcore Punkers' living in Portland right now. They are a bitter, bearded bunch.
