First there were the Beastie Boys,

But who will answer the call and compose a pro war song?! I don't know
the artist, but this masterpiece

There was great weather in the bay area this weekend. On Saturday we did
some music shopping
on Haight street and then took the dog to Fort
Funston. Sunday I skated at the Vans park and checked out the new
Phil
Shao Memorial park in Redwood City. Good street area, but super crowded.
I try to keep an open mind when viewing right wing web logs, but Veronikka
sinks to new lows...
"CNN is interviewing anti-war protesters right now and apparently
all they can find are fat, ugly lesbians. I'd rather associate myself
with the hotness that is conservativism, thank you."
What a sweetheart, she insults liberals and
homosexuals equally.
--
Update...here's what she had to say:
"Now I know we're all fairly fluent in liberal-speak, but at what
point did "lesbian" in liberal-speak translate to "I hate
lesbians"? Doesn't that seem kind of goofy? What the hell in the
above quote did he pull that would make him think I have a problem with
lesbians? Yeah, perhaps he should talk to one of my ex-girlfriends or
something before jumping to confusions again."
I guess she considers 'fat' and 'ugly' as terms of endearment. I guess
I just thought that was an incredibly mean and insensitive statement.
As you can see I changed the word 'hate' to something more fitting...
"This
is Exhibit A in my "Liberals are prejudiced assholes" file.
Thank you, liberals, for confirming every single goddamn stereotype we
have about you."
You're certainly welcome...I'm glad to help you label me as prejudice.
As long as you label me opposite of what you believe in...I'll be just
fine.
I won't waste any more space on this...sorry.

The fury over Michael Moore's
Oscar rages on. I was recently
pointed toward this (from Frank)
which I feel is worth a read. I have to say that the reworking of Heston's
NRA speech is pretty weak. Not the fair thing to do. Still, I stand by
the film and feel that the it does a great job of pointing out some problems
in this country. I also think Stupid
White Men is a valuable read.
But, if you (like the thousands of others) hate Moore and want to strip
him of his Oscar, waste your time and energy by signing this
online petition. Or simply view some comments left by others and laugh
out loud.
"He's a putz, a moron and a liar. One of my heros, Mr. Himmler would
know what to do with him and so would I. I would like to see him naked
though." I'm glad Mr. Weiner didn't let his sexual attraction to
Mr.Moore stand in the way of insulting him.
"This man does not deserve the oscar. Pull it from his dead hands."
Agreed. I also think they should shoot Nichole Kidman...I mean, Julianne
Moore was robbed!
"He's a blowhard liberal who is Anti American. I hope he gets shipped
to Baghdad as a human shield." I think I'm going to tear up...Ga'
Bless America!

political Flash comic by Mark Fiore.
- Hear
more from Michael Moore in this video after his acceptance speech
addressing the media (Windows Media Player needed). This is really good
stuff.
- Hey,
more shady stuff from the White House...
"For months, administration officials had been touting a series of
letters purporting to show Iraqi efforts to buy uranium from the African
country of Niger. The letters, it was revealed, were hoaxes -- crude forgeries
discredited by nuclear weapons experts and disowned by the Central Intelligence
Agency. For more than a year, Washington had used evidence repudiated
by its own intelligence advisors to build a case for war."
- On the
lighter side...this is one
of my favorites.

Well, I'm sure millions of people (and websites) will be attacking Michael
Moore for his Oscar statements. I think Adrien
Brody did a better job commenting on the war, but Moore's statements
were certainly valid. And I'm VERY glad he took the Oscar for Bowling
For Columbine. He certainly deserved it.

This is a very good

As you might have guessed, so far this war will only open the door to
more
terrorist activity. We now have even more angry enemies...

Downtown San Francisco is completely under
the control of protestors and has been since early this morning. It's
strange to think that just a few miles away it's totally out of control.
I'm not watching TV and NBC is showing glossy, slickly designed promos
of war coverage. It's just insane.
Earlier I took down neckdeep because I was a bit bummed on this whole
situation and didn't feel like writing about it. After receiving more
than a few emails, I changed my mind. I may post less frequently, but
I plan on staying at it. Thanks for the support.

This article is made me pause.
"Emerging from the White House, Bloomberg said the lengthy national
debate about whether to go to war is over. "The president has listened
and he has made his decision, and I know all New Yorkers are behind him
and the troops overseas," he said. "He's not going to be cowed
or dissuaded. He's going to go out there and do what we all pray is right."
So Bush says New Yorkers are behind him, suggesting we are paying back
Iraq for their role in the terrorist attacks. OK...
"Saying ousting Saddam would help the war on terrorism, the report
added: "United States government personnel operating in Iraq may
discover information through Iraqi government documents and interviews
with detained Iraqi officials that would identify individuals currently
in the United States and abroad who are linked to terrorist organizations."
The presidential letter said the Constitution gives the president authority
to "take the necessary actions against international terrorists and
terrorist organizations, including those nations, organizations or persons
who planned, authorized, committed or aided the terrorist attacks that
occurred on Sept. 11, 2001."
Right,
so we are taking action because Iraq is linked to the actions of September
11th...but then you said 'may' discover information...
"White House spokesman Sean McCormack said the language refers to
the administration's belief that there are links ties between al-Qaida
and Iraq, and that Bush was not accusing Iraq of being involved in the
attacks."
So he's NOT accusing Iraq of aiding the terrorists? Wait...Huh? Then finally...
"Bush has said he has no proof that Iraq was linked to the 2001 strikes."
It seems to me that Bush IS publically making this connection with absolutely
no proof. Past that he's using this falsehood in to skip over the Constitution.
I am mistaken here or is that just flat out wrong?
And may I point out...
I am in NO WAY defending Saddam. In NO WAY. I think the man is human garbage
and something has to be done. What I am saying is that I feel the administration
is using September 11th as an emotional hot spot. It's disgusting to relate
this war to September 11th and play on the emotions of New Yorkers and
Americans with absolutely no proof.
I hope all the Iraq forces drop their weapons and surrender.
I hope no America soldiers lose their lives.
I hope that the rest of the world turns around and stops hating America.
I hope that Iraq will be rebuilt properly and not just made into a westernized
vision of society as our adminastration sees fit.
I hope that Bush administration listens and considers all options before
it acts becuase he works for us and not the other way around.
Just like...
I hope that Bush finds his smoking gun.
But I'm not counting on any of it.
