Randoms.

Rather than try to take photos of all the amazing cars at the Wednesday car show I've gotten in the habit of shooting things that I find sad. But in a good way...

Exact words from Ian's mouth, "DUDE, not only is Taz driving...he's also TOTALLY riding shotgun!" For the record the car is a mid-seventies 280Z with a modified V6. Killer, bra.

Nothing says total rebellion and individuality like a row of the exact same Harley model. I'm saddened to say I missed getting a shot of the Harley that was tricked out with a Nightmare Before Christmas theme. One of the worst/best things I've ever seen.

+ Invisible Oranges. A solid music review site I ran across. Very well written, which is sometimes a rarity.

+ If you've never wasted time at FFFOUND you will now.

+ Buy the SPACED DVD set. I can now retire the bootlegs Frank made me all those years ago. I'm looking forward to checking out the documentary and commentary tracks (which is like a who's who). I was also happy to hear that the US version of the show has been completely shelved. Thank goodness. More SPACED news and such here.

Working For A Living.

I'm been doing a lot of work for Microsoft lately, evening visiting their Redmond headquarters this past Monday. I'm not saying it's been a bad experience but sometimes, sometimes, the process is a bit like this:

That being said, there are warriors out on the front lines spilling blood, sweat and tears to have the above NOT happen. Never happen. One of the best is one Aaron Draplin. The guy has so much skill it's scary. Past that he's one passionate son of a bitch when it comes to design and design history. Check out this clip from an up coming documentary featuring the man and his mission (click on the image). Truer words never spoken.

Ditto.

From McGoo's blog, Crown Lounge:
I've never liked the men and women who practice what the Harley-Davidson Motor Company preaches. When a million people wear the same ponytail, cruise the same backroads, swill foam at the same roadhouses, spend billions on the same detritus and flaunt the same sense of entitlement and bad-boy attitude, the "individuality" those sheep flock to in lockstep reminds me of the dragon that eats its own tail.

Worth a read...and daily visits.

Amazing.

I'm speechless....but you know, you've seen it by now.

+ 6 hours sleep in three days with a sick kid and flying to Seattle for a one hour meeting. Help.

Shiftless.

While I can't actually drive (well, I can slosh my way through the automatic Audi) quite a few auto events went down last week. First was another Wednesday car show, with great drag racing, followed by the Portland Historics. We atteneded on Friday as I was off from workand feeling strange after surgery but wanted to beat the weekend crowds. As always, the cars in attendence were epic. Photos coming soon.

I've also been spending too much time on a variety of auto sites. Here are some stories / features that have caught my eye.

+ The "Barn Find" - This one is a bit of a mystery. I saw this story last year and it seemedd too good to be true then. Snopes calls it out and modifies the story...but it's still pretty suspect so we may never know the truth. Still, the photos are unreal and you can't help but dream about stubling across a find like this.

+ Now & Then - Great photos that make me wish I took more snaps of my car when I first got it. i do see having the 912 until I'm old and grey. No question. Cartype overall is always worth a visit.

+ The Worst General Lee. Just sad, very sad.

+ 24 Hours of LeMons. Like The Melee gone very hardcore.

One Peeble, Two States and a Surgery Later...

I've been a bit busy this past week or so.

We headed down to the Bay Area last week for the Forth Of July. I brought along a board to take a run or two at both the new Potrero park and one of my all time favorites, Novato. While testing out newly mounted trucks at a school yard sidewalk I hit a pebble. This was my right hand and thumb...

.
After a week of ERs, bad doctors, worse splints and not much fun I headed into surgery yesterday. Two pins were put into my thumb to hold the bone in joint while it heals...

Two weeks with this...and two weeks with another, smaller cast. Then who knows. You gotta love skateboarding.

+ Thanks to Greg Rojas for the work on the third. A great artist with a steady hand. Highly recommended.

Stephen Baldwin Does It Again

Dude! StevieB is totally supporting McCain and will move out of the country if Obama wins (playing off his brother Alec saying he would leave if Bush was elected). Also included, the list of HUGE Hollywood talent supporting McCain: Tom Selleck, Jerry Bruckheimer , Kelsey Grammer, Jon Voight, Slyvester Stallone and the MIGHTY Wilfred Brimley. And with Baldwin in the mix, you can add Jesus to the list.

From the star of Bio-Dome and Livin It, some fantastic grammar: "The most stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life." .
