And now for a sports report...no, I'm
not kidding.
- This worthless
piece of trash should lose more than just a Nike deal (which
he hasn't yet). As the owner of a pit I would like to see him
tortured as
he tortured his dogs.
- And in baseball news, you've got a drug using, lying asshole
challenging
the record of a legend.
- I'd rather watch minor
league soccer. Super fun and a great group of local
fans. And then there's Timber
Jim.
+ Thurday, July 19th, 3:15pm +
- This is a great
report on Scientology from the BBC...very well done and pretty
straight forward. Another reason that English media does it right.
A long watch (29:20), but well worth the time.
I wonder if I'll appear on a "list" now for thinking
these freaks are certainly a cult. And the US classifies this
as a religion? Unreal.

- I'm certainly not alone in being super stoked on Flight
Of The Conchords...but I feel like I have to throw some links
up here.
1. Issues
(aka Think About It) - Live
2. Hiphopoppotamus
vs. Rhymenoceruss - The Show
3. The Humans
Are Dead - Live
4. Watch
Episode Four
- Updating a lot these days...because I'm a bit bored.

$700.00...but this is the first time I've ever seen this
EXACT board for sale. And it's even signed by Hensley. My
holy grail. And no way I would spend that much money.

Glen E. Friedman is set to release his new book, Keep Your
eyes Open, a 112 page photo book with over 200 prints documenting
the band from 1986 - 2002. There's a website
for a book...and you can order now. Sold.

Last Saturday a few of us headed out to PIR and caught the
Portland Historic Races. As always, it's a good time. So many
damn Porsches...and I took some photos.

Stop what your are doing and go buy the new Patton Oswalt album.
It's got a DVD in there as well. Beyond fucking awesome. I cried.
Literally. Read a very
nice interview with Patton at The Onion AV Club.

Short Curcuit
+ shitty teen comedy + amazing special effects = Transformers.
Yes, the effects were great. Stormshadow and Optimus were pretty
well done and it was great to watch them all 'transform'. When
the robots were fighting I was rivited. But why the hell were
the robots interacting with the humans like 'Number 5 (is alive)
from the Short Circuit films? Advanced alien robots from the future
are going to be doing slapstick and throwing out pop culture one
liners? Did I miss Fisher Stevens and Steve Guttenberg? It also
took an hour of badly written teen cliche storytelling to reach
the damn action. I almost walked out during the first 45 minutes.
"Hey man, it's a popcorn flick! It's just fun...what's the
big deal? It was a good time."
I'm sorry, but shitty charcters (hot hacker blond, black jive
car salesman) and obivious plot twists (this alien helped us with
today's technology...get out of here) just doesn't cut it for
me. Where does it say that robots have to utter "My bad"
for a cheap laugh and all the dialog has to end with a snappy
predictable joke? It didn't have to be bad. The origins and backstory
of the Transformers themselves was close to being interesting.
Did everything have to be written so dumb and obvious? Yeah, I
guess it followed the 'american blockbuster' formula to the letter.
Right down to the last scene with the Linkin Park song soaring
in the background. And America has spoken: biggest
first week opening of all time.
I saw an interview with Micheal Bay who said that even though
the critics hate his films they still make a ridiculous amount
of money...meaning he's giving the people what they want. Most
Americans eat at McDonalds a few times a week. Does that make
it good food?

- Ratatouille
is my favorite movie so far this year. Smart, funny and so fun
to watch. It sounds like some sort of cliche, but it was the best
time I had at the movies this year. Patton Oswalt is great...go
check it out. Then see Transformers. I know I'm going to at some
point.
- Here's some bonus
Patton Oswalt for you (watch the first video). I haven't laughed
that hard in a long time. The bit about the KFC bowl? Genius.
- Hey, guess what? That
fat cop got off scot free! Big
surprise. I guess the town of Hot Springs is cool with this
guy being back on patrol on Thursday. Fantastic. I'm glad I don't
live there and never will. Remember kids, if you've got a badge
you can do anything.
