After being on the road for a few days I was saddened to hear
of the passing
of Don Knotts. Although not a big surprise (he was looking
quite frail at 81) it's still a huge loss to the world of TV and
comedy.
People tend to make fun of me for being such a huge Don
Knotts and Andy Griffith Show fan but I'll always defend that
show and his work. The man was a genius on and continues to make
me laugh. He was perfect as Barney Fife and few comic characters
have ever touched his dead on timing and site gags (Micheal Richards
on 'Seinfeld' is the only one that comes to mind). His other work
in 'Three's Company' and his film
roles are solid...but Fife was his masterpiece.
The show makes me think of all the times my Dad, my brother and
I would watch the show together and laugh out loud while everyone
else just doesn't get it. Thanks Don...you were the man.

- We arrived here in Portland, safe and sound and over 600 miles
on the Porsche. It's insane that 40 year old car can be that solid...70mph
the whole way and 90 in spots. Unreal. It was great to park in
the new garage. New tires are next. Thanks to Chad and Emiko for
watching the Kato dog...we owe you.

If someone else tells me that Portland is normally beautiful
all the time I'm going to snap. The weather here now is freezing
fucking cold and with wind chill it's feeling around 16 degrees.
Awesome. There's a reason I moved from the east coast.
Winter sucks.
Being sick and living in a place I don't like doesn't help either.
Good thing we're going down to SF next weekend, as I'm on the
verge of losing it.

Monday's Daily
Show covering both Dick Cheney's face shooting and the Olympic
opening ceremony was as close to perfect as it gets. Man, I wish
I had TiVo. Genius...absolutely fucking genius. Watch it online
at You
Tube.

- We sold our house in SF. It seems that this moving nightmare
will soon be at an end. It looks like I'm going to have to drive
the Porsche up here to Portland. I'm just not willing to spend
$700 - $900 to have it sent via open air trailer.
- Far too many meetings this week. Not fun.
- Cheney shooting
his friend while hunting could be the best story of the year.
There are so many great things about this one...where do I begin?
- "
The Flying Tomato punked the competition once again Sunday"...blah,
blah blah. The kid can ride but that nickname is pretty poor.

- Tomorrow would have marked James
Dean's 75th Birthday
- Check out Sonic
Corpse Guide a newMP3 blog that promises to be the go to location
for the heavy stuff. I'm already impressed with the Paul Stanley
link and the Poison Idea tracks.

- More Morrissey. Here's 'Dear
God Please Help Me' via Ivo (thanks). You can visit Morrissey's
My Space page (I can't believe I just typed that) and hear
'You Have Killed Me' which I think is the best song of the three
as well as the single. Great song.
- The
SHAC 7 trial starts today. Wish them luck...this will effect
everyone who favors free speech.
+ Sunday, February 5th, 6:57pm +
- In case you haven't heard it, here's the leaked Morrissey
song, 'I
Will See You In Far Away Places'. According to Morrissey-solo
some other songs have leaked...drop me a line if you happen to
have them.
- It was sunny today...at first I didn't believe it but it actually
was.

I'd like to apologize to Tom, Chad, Dave, and Jesse for dragging
them out to Rock & Roll Pizza last night to see 3 Inches Of
Blood.
It may have been the most depressing show I have ever attended.
It was a combination of a horrible redneck thug pit, low rent
mothers with their children (WHY?) and topping it off...meth head
teens tweaking out. The topper was a Hot Topic clad youth puking
in the trash can next to me and going right back to making out
with his frightened girlfriend. Awful.
The band before 3 Inches, Stonecreep (?!) were without a doubt
the worst band I have ever seen. Their poorly played songs went
on FOREVER and, I shit you not, they played a cover of 'Youth
Gone Wild'. Pure fucking torture. 'Party
with The Creep'. Sad.
3 Inches Of Blood were decent, I've certainly seen them better.
I was too busy watching drunk meth soaked turds fight each other
to really take it all in.
That's the last time I venture that far outside of Portland..

- My favorite news story this week: Portland
sloshes through wettest January in 3 decades. It's really
starting to get to me.
- Some pretty strange US
Morrissey dates have been announced. I don't think I'll be
traveling to Texas or Oklahoma. He already announced and canceled
a show in a single 24 hour period. Typical.
- 3 inches Of Blood
play a place called Rock
& Roll Pizza here in Portland on Friday. Since you can't
buy tickets in advance I hope it doesn't sell out. If these
photos are any indication, the SF show went off.
That's all I've got. I'm looking forward to meeting up with Matt
Owens of Volume One fame
tomorrow and checking out his work. I'm pitching hard to hire
Volume One for a project I'm working on. Fingers crossed.
